Despite Defeat, it Was a Privilege for Assembly Candidate to Run for Office

I write this piece in a state of gratitude and with confidence in my convictions.

Only in America could a young Italian immigrant come to this great country, start a family, become a successful businessman and run for elected office. America offers so much, and it was both an honor and a humbling experience to have my family by my side and see my name on the ballot in the greatest country in the world.

While this election’s outcome was not what we had hoped for, the people have spoken and their message is clear. As a Republican on the ballot, I am proud to have received a historic number of votes in the deep blue 92nd Assembly District, and I am deeply gratified to know that many Democrats and independents crossed party lines to support me. Their actions reflect a desire for change and a rejection of the one-party rule that has dominated Albany and Westchester for far too long.

I would like to congratulate MaryJane Shimsky on her victory. At the same time, I hope she listens carefully to the concerns expressed by the voters throughout the district and across New York. I hope she will become a voice of reason and occasionally offer constructive opposition in Albany. I encourage her to advocate for fiscal responsibility by curbing unnecessary spending, to take a firm stance against rewarding career criminals for bad behavior and to ensure that parents have a meaningful role in their children’s education. Additionally, we must address the migrant crisis and her own sanctuary laws, which are absolutely linked to the tragic murder of an innocent boy in Westchester just weeks ago.

America is a remarkable country, and New York has long been a symbol of the American dream. While my campaign may have concluded at the ballot box, my commitment to our community is unwavering. I will continue to advocate for common-sense policies, to be a voice of reason for families across our region and to fight for the opportunity that America has always promised – an equal opportunity to pursue the American dream.
