I attended the 94th Assembly District debate between Matt Slater and Zack Couzens at the Mahopac Library. I found Mr. Couzens to be completely unqualified for this important seat. He possesses no experience, no vision and no understanding of the issues we are struggling with.

Mr. Couzens did a decent job regurgitating talking points from the Democratic Party and made it clear he would be a rubberstamp for every dangerously liberal policy that has ruined this state. Mr. Couzens failed to comprehend the fact that it is his party that has been in charge of our state and has passed countless laws that have made us less safe, that have infringed on our rights, that target the idea of family and have made New York completely unaffordable.

Meanwhile, Mr. Couzens’ Democratic Party is spending billions of dollars on freebies for illegal immigrants, turning New York City into a crater for gangs, something Mr. Couzens did not mention once in the hour-long debate. In fact, during one exchange, Mr. Couzens opposed the notion that New York adopt a voter identification law to enhance voter integrity within our elections. Mr. Couzens failed to understand that identification is a basic necessity these days that is given out for free by New York City – even to illegal immigrants.

Mr. Couzens can be enthusiastic, but on substance and experience he is a failure and made one thing perfectly clear: he is dangerously liberal and will only become part of the problem in Albany.
