Cortlandt Kicks Off Local Business Promotion
About 20% of businesses in the Town of Cortlandt are offering special discounts during May as part of the town’s efforts to urge residents to shop and dine locally.
Town officials kicked off “Shop and Dine Cortlandt” Friday at the Cortlandt Farm Market on Route 202, a family owned business for 37 years.
Farm Market owners Domenick and Theresa DiNardo were thrilled to be hosting the launch of the town’s third annual promotion.
“Many of our great customers have become friends,” Theresa said.
Cortlandt Supervisor Linda Puglisi said the Cortlandt Farm Market, which is open from April 1 to December 24, is the type of business that exists throughout Cortlandt.
“It’s a family oriented town and community,” Puglisi said. “Every day is shop, do business and dine in the Town of Cortlandt.”
Councilman Dr. Richard Becker, who hosts a town produced show called Taking Care of Business, which spotlights local merchants, said many businesses have been around for generations.
“These businesses keep our community thriving,” he said. “Those who shop locally are getting quality products.”
Lauren Brady of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce was pleased to be able to co-sponsor this year’s promotion with Cortlandt.
“We love this program. Cortlandt really supports small businesses,” Brady said. “This is a chance for people to try a business, not just in May, but always. Support small business year-round.”
