Celestino’s Service Station to Add Four Bays
The White Plains Planning Board gave a nod of approval to a major renovation at Celestino’s Service Station at its meeting last week.
The White Plains Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) referred the amendment to the existing Special Permit and Site Plan to the Planning Board for comment. With some minor recommendations to add in screening and some safety elements, Board members said they felt the changes were an enhancement to the existing facility. There was some discussion about the number of service stations in the immediate area and the potential noise generated by auto repairs.
Celestino’s Service Station is owned by USA-2 Auto Service and is located at 457 Mamaroneck Avenue at the corner of South Broadway. It sits almost directly across from Citibank and CVS on Mamaroneck Avenue and next to a Mobil Service Station. There is a residential area in the rear separated from the service station parking lot by a fence.
The plan is to add 2,200 square feet to include four service bays in a two-story addition that would build two bays at the back and lower portion of the building. The existing 20-foot setback at S. Broadway would be maintained. No additional parking spaces are required to accommodate the building extension.
