Business Profile: Somers Rejuvenation Medi Spa
Somers resident Michelle Nicora said last week she originally had no intention to own her own business.
“This just happened. So it wasn’t really premeditated very much at all,” said Nicora, a former teacher and speech therapist.
What happened was she and her husband, Christopher, opened the Somers Rejuvenation Medi Spa on Route 202 five weeks ago.
Medi in the name of her business refers to medical, because medical cosmetic procedures, which must be administered by a doctor, are among the services provided, Nicora said. Her husband is a doctor of internal medicine who oversees procedures when called for, she noted.
The customers for the new business typically come from northern Westchester and lower Putnam. “I think it’s a service that we really don’t see here in Somers,” Nicora said.
Most of the new businesses’ services are anti-aging facial treatments, such as masks and chemical peels, Nicora said. One of the treatments is oxygenation. “It’s an addition to a facial where we add oxygen that has a lot of vitamins and nutrients in it and it cools the skin and plumps it,” Nicora explained, adding the vitamins and nutrients are provided to the lower levels of the skin which typically do not receive much attention.
The spa provides services to both men and women, although a majority of her clients are women, Nicora noted. Teens who have skin conditions such as bad acne conditions have also patronized the spa, she said.
Severe skin dryness and burning are among the other skin conditions dealt with at the spa, Nicora said. Proving the services is esthetician Fazia Jabri, who lives in Carmel. “An esthetician is someone who provides care to the skin,” Nicora said.
Nicora said she was a client of Jabri for many years. “She was looking for a different opportunity,” Nicora said. “It just evolved from that” and the business was created.
“I got involved with this because I just think that she is really an amazing professional,” Nicora said. “She has a lot of knowledge and she’s very good at what she does.” None of her customers have had any negative comments about her, Nicora noted.
“She transforms you into a place of relaxation that you haven’t been in before,” Nicora said. “You come out just looking radiant and feeling so great.”
“She knows so much about people’s skin,” Nicola said of Jabri. “She’s such a skin care specialist. She’s very gifted at what she does.”
