Business Profile: Rev Design, Patterson
George Barbarossa and Tony LoMeli had their own companies but were working on quite a few jobs together when they decided to partner up and create Rev Design Inc., opening an office in 2008.
“The bulk of our clients are small to medium sized businesses,” Barbarossa said. “We come in and we’re able to bring all the things they need to publicize their business and develop leads. We do it all under one roof.
“Someone comes up with a business, they need a logo. We develop a logo. We develop a branding strategy. We develop signage if they need signage. We can letter trucks. We set up their website for them, all of their email addresses. We host their website. We’re basically a one stop shop for small to medium sized businesses.”
Rev Design does work for large businesses also.
“For larger businesses… we’re like a mobile marketing department,” said Barbarossa. “Companies that are large enough to require a marketing department but don’t want the expense of hiring a bunch of people will bring us in and we sit in on their meetings. We do reports for them, we help them with their lead tracking, we monitor their website and we do Gmail marketing. And that’s really the differentiator between what we do and a lot of other companies…. We span the whole gamut as far as advertising and marketing.”
Working with Google Adwords, one can get almost immediate feedback as to what messaging is working.”
Keywords is harder that just picking a few nouns that relate to a business.
“We’re able to load certain keywords in and we can see which keywords are most effective,” Barbarossa said. “We can check out bounce rate for a website, how long people are staying on the site. That’s the tricky part because you really have to grab someone in that first second and in order to hold them you really have to have some value in whatever you’re displaying. If you’re anything like I am, unless they get you in a heartbeat I’m already hitting that back button and I’m on to that next website. So that’s the challenge.”
Rev Design Inc. specializes in search engine optimization (SEO).
“SEO is broken up into two different avenues,” Barbarossa said. “The first one is onsite SEO. Onsite SEO is creating keyword rich content on your website; the right links, the right pages, and then being able to convert viewers into leads, having a call to action on those pages.
“What’s interesting is the psychology of the viewer on the website is something you have to work with, it’s not something you can dial into right away. It’s like tuning a carburetor. Sometimes changing a background color on a website will change people’s willingness to submit information: email addresses, address, phone number, and the willingness to have someone contact them back. So onsite is basically revamping a website or building a website from scratch. We kind of build all that in right away.
“The offsite is educational-based marketing with our search engine optimization, the developing of articles. We have copywriters for specific industries, some technical, home services, whatever it may be. We keyword the articles correctly and build a link back to the website with maybe a call to action.
“So if we place an article for a home inspector about the importance of testing air quality when you purchase a home near a high water table, we link it back to a page on their website that addresses that specific article and it may include some kind of promotion on air quality testing, just to create something you can track, so the owner of the website can see that there’s a return on the investment. They can see there were 53 requests for air quality tests and a direct link from the article. So every month we try something different.
“There are thousands of people out there who build websites. You have high school and college kids who build websites. It’s about relationship building for us. We’ve had clients for years and years and years. We’ve been very successful with them. We’ve retained, tight, personal relationships with everyone we’ve ever worked with. It comes down to service but also being there for whatever they need.”
