Business Profile: Beach Nails, Spa and Tanning, Peekskill

If you are a woman who wants a little bit of pampering, Beach Nails, Spa and Tanning could be the place for you because it provides a wide array of services.
Cortlandt resident Tracy Cong has been manger of Beach Nails for 10 years. The business itself opened in the Beach Shopping Center in Peekskill in 2004.
Beach Nails offers nail services, spa services, tanning and body message, Cong said last week.
“We have a regular manicure and we have a gel manicure,” Cong said, adding several nail colors are available, as well as artificial nails. Gel nail colors are currently particularly popular because they last longer (up to a month) than conventional colors, she said.
Beach Nails accepts both reservations and walk-in customers, Cong said.
Beach Nails sells a variety of items, including nail polishes and facial products, as well as tanning lotions that can be used at the business, Cong said.
Cong said Beach Nails serves many regular customers and, in many cases, generations of family members.
“We do have a good customer base,” she said. “We grow old with the customers. We see grandmother, mother and then the young kids growing up.”
Beach Nails is a social place for its customers, Cong said. “(We are) like a second family for the customers,” Cong said. “They come here and talk.”
Cong said most of the Beach Nails customers come from such northern Westchester areas as Peekskill, Cortlandt, Yorktown, and Mohegan Lake, as well as Putnam County.
Though she devotes most of her time at Beach Nails to her administrative duties, Cong said she also works with customers as a nail technician.
Cong said she has been working in the business for several years. “I started to like it,” she said. “It‘s interesting. I enjoy making customers’ nails look nice.”
