Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly, which often sends people into a shopping frenzy for their loved ones. It all started out with a phone call, Steve Galper, owner of Genesis Jewelers, explained.
His cousin asked his mother if Galper could go work for him. At that point, he was only 17 years old. “I got into the business through family, and I stuck with it,” Galper said. When he first opened Genesis Jewelers on his own in 1987, the store was located in Queens. Now, 30 years later, the business is running well in its 32 Triangle Center,Yorktown Heights location.
When it comes to standing out, Galper said it is all about the service you provide to your customers. If you earn their trust and make them satisfied, then your job is done.
“I take pride in what I do,” he said. While he explains that it’s impossible to open a business without a monetary motivation, his greatest incentive is making people happy. He stated that he has impressed his belief on the staff at Genesis Jewelers that, “it’s not about the money; it’s about making customers happy.”
There is a jeweler on premises that can develop any custom-ordered jewelry, because as Galper said, “If you can dream it, we can make it.” Any style and specialization that could possibly be fantasized can be created there.
Don’t let the store’s size deceive you! It has a wide variety of watches, pendants, rings, bracelets, charms, earrings, and even men’s accessories. To make it even better, there’s currently a 50 percent discount on all silver jewelry and some of the watches. Plus there is a 15 to 35 percent discount is available for all Swiss Army watches for sale in the store.
Maintaining a shop with customer happiness as the main motivation may seem too optimistic, but it really works for Genesis Jewelers. Galper stated that by keeping his customers happy, he receives a steady stream of new customers through recommendations. Those ones are even more exciting to assist, as they already have great trust placed in his store.
