Business of the Week: All-Out Fitness, Mahopac
Inspired by his own journey—from being an overweight kid who turned his life around after finding his passion for health and fitness—Neil Denaut of Carmel has revamped the traditional notion of personal training. At his studio, All-Out Fitness on Route 6 in Mahopac, people young and old, male or female are able to develop the right individualized program to help them meet their goals.
Although Denaut offers one-on-one training sessions for the highly motivated, he understands that most people need to have a fitness buddy in addition to the trainer who can guide you. “We offer small group packages. Sometimes they are for specific programs like boot camp other times they can be part of our seasonal challenges.”
Several times a year Denaut organizes a weight loss competition that is based on the amount of inches a team loses as compared to another team. “This really motivates people,” he said. “We meet three times a week for five weeks and the team that loses the most inches wins. Sometimes they win cash, sometimes its other prizes, but people love the competitive nature of the contest.”
With the kids going back to school soon, Denaut is offering a friends training package which is ideal for moms. Two people can train together for the price of one. “It is hard to focus on you when the kids are home for the summer, but with the kids going back to school now is a great time to get back into shape,” he said.
Denaut has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Purchase and is accredited as a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (N.A.S.M), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and is certified in American Counsel on Exercise (ACE) Functional Training as well as Under Armour Combine 360.
He specializes in special populations and foundation training. He takes his time to pin-point tight regions of your body and relaxes them using manual stretching techniques. He takes the time to teach you how to be pro-active regarding your physical fitness and well-being. And he always includes a cool down stretch, something you won’t receive from most personal trainers.
He recently was one of five trainers to win a trip to Los Angeles and be part of the 2011 IDEA World Fitness Convention and represent the Combine360 team.
Denaut’s desire to help the youth in the area led to the creation of two new programs at All-Out Fitness—Kids Combine and All-Out Fit Jam.
The Kids Combine program is set to help young athletes between the ages of 10 and 14 with foundational fitness skills that can be essential to all sports. The class is for will have eight students who will meet for two sessions a week. The program costs $99 per month.
All-Out Fit Jam is a class for ages 13-17. Teens come to the studio to work-out on Friday evenings to the sounds of a live DJ. “It is a safe environment where your kids can not only have positive entertainment, but also can get healthier,” Denaut said. The class lasts a little over an hour and refreshments will be served after-wards for recovery and to provide a socialization period and costs $5 per session.
“I believe that exercise should be a positive experience and a part of everyone’s life,” Denaut said. “That is why my studio offers so many different ways to try to introduce health and fitness in to people’s lives.”
