Burton Not Seeking Reelection
Westchester County Legislator Bill Burton announced he would not seek reelection to the seat he has held since 2005. Burton represents Briarcliff, Cortlandt, Croton and Ossining.
An Ossining resident, Burton was the town supervisor from 1991 to 1997.
Burton currently serves in the legislature as chairman of the Housing and Planning and Operations committee, along with Appointments committee.
He was one of the elected officials from the Ossining area to recommend to Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sell Sing-Sing prison.
Burton is the second Democrat to state that reelection was not in the cards. Legislator Martin Rogowsky of Harrison previously announced he would not seek another term.
