Board of Ed Appoints New Bedford Road School Assistant Principal
Just one month after finding a new principal for Pleasantville High School next year, the district is welcoming another new member to its administrative staff.
The board of education approved on June 3 the appointment of John Morash to become assistant principal at Bedford Road School. Current Assistant Principal Cynthia Kramer will be leaving the district to become a principal in the Hendrick Hudson School District.
“What I’ve learned being in the business for 25 years is that as people come and make impacts on children’s lives, you don’t replace them, you look for something different and something new,” said Bedford Road Principal Peggy Galotti.
Morash was selected from a pool of more than 185 applicants, with contenders narrowed by a 15-member committee. According to Galotti, Morash emerged “heads and toes above everyone else” and was unanimously selected as the best choice for the position.
“I was very impressed with John’s background…he has a wealth of background and experience that I think will transition beautifully into the elementary school,” said Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter.
Morash currently serves as the assistant principal at Resurrection Grammar School in Rye and has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in education from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. He also has extensive experience as a classroom teacher and previously served as the director of admissions at Iona Grammar School.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity and to be part of the community of Bedford Road School and the larger community of Pleasantville,” said Morash who takes over on July 1. “It is such a positive environment walking into the Bedford Road School; it’s strong academically and I am really honored and proud to be part of the team.”
