Assemblyman Buchwald Sworn in at New Year
David Buchwald was sworn into office as a representative of the new 93rd New York State Assembly District, Tuesday morning in Council Chambers at White Plains City Hall. Guests on hand to witness the inauguration made up a veritable Who’s Who of government officials at all local levels representing the towns of Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mt. Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and the City of White Plains.
White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach presided over the swearing in.
After thanking his family and acknowledging his colleagues in the room, Buchwald restated his election goals saying he is committed to negotiating in all good faith for the constituents in his district.
“I want to make sure we don’t see as much gun violence in our communites,” Buchwald said to a round of applause. “I rededicate to that task; to bring that message from this district up to Albany,” he emphasized.
Buchwald also spoke about the need for more economic and job growth in Westchester County. He committed to being an ambassador for businesses large and small.
In closing, Buchwald said he wanted constituents to know that when they contact his office they are not interfering with his goals but rather helping him to fulfill those goals.
Mayor Roach called Buchwald’s move from the White Plains Common Council to Albany a sweet moment. “We are gaining an assemblyman with knowledge of how municipal governments work,” he said. “We will continue to work together and with other friends to do the best for our constituents.”
