A&P Employee Charged with Stealing More Than $10,000

An employee at the A&P supermarket in the Triangle Shopping Center in Yorktown was charged May 9 with stealing more than $10,000 over an eight-month period.

According to Yorktown Police, between October 2012 and May 2013, Jillian Barnes, 22, of Upland Road, Yorktown, allegedly stole $10,024.43 from the A&P by creating false returns and removing the money from the cash register.

Barnes was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a Class D felony. She was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and released after posting $2,500 cash bail. She is due back in court May 23.
