On Saturday, Mar. 18, Alice L. Binns passed away surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.
Alice was a lifetime Hawthorne resident.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, brother Andrew Jass and nephew Kenneth Jass. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Binns), and her husband, Michael (Stella); granddaughter Sophia; sister-in-law Eleanor (Jass); and nieces and a nephew.
After graduating from Pleasantville High School, Alice worked as a secretary in New York City before marrying and becoming a homemaker. Alice and Jack were married for 44 years before his death. In her younger years, she was very active playing softball, skiing and horseback riding. Up until a few years ago, she was still swimming laps and riding her bike.
Alice enjoyed spending time with her favorite person, her granddaughter Sophia. A favorite activity was going for a car ride with Linda, Sophia and Gracie the dog. Alice and Gracie would share a donut or a pup cup.
Alice’s funeral will be a private ceremony for family members.
