No Need for Jones to Apologize for Calling Trump, Vance Threats to Democracy

We are part of The Trust Project

Mike Lawler’s campaign called for Mondaire Jones to apologize for saying that candidates Trump and Vance are threats to democracy.

What does that tell us about Mike Lawler?

Apparently in Mike Lawler’s opinion not accepting the results of a free and fair election and encouraging people to prevent the peaceful transfer of power – both of which Trump constantly broadcast – are not threats to democracy.

Apparently in Mike Lawler’s opinion, J.D. Vance stating he would not have certified the election if he were vice president on Jan. 6, 2021, is not a threat to a time-honored democratic norm.

Being horrified by a 20-year-old’s attempt to assassinate a candidate for the presidency with a war weapon should not be a reason to censor people talking about the very real threat to our country of a second Trump term.

Instead, Mike Lawler should connect this near tragedy to promote gun safety legislation, of which Mondaire Jones is the candidate with a solid voting record. Bless him for that.
