Entergy to Test Indian Point Siren System on Tuesday
Entergy has notified the public that the Indian Point Energy Center emergency notification sirens will sound during a test of the system on Tuesday, Nov. 15 between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. During the four-minute test, the sirens will sound at full-volume in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties.
No action will be required by the public.
Sirens are not a signal to evacuate, according to Entergy. In an actual emergency, the sirens would sound to alert the public to tune in to a local EAS radio or television station for important information and direction.
The stations are listed in the emergency planning booklet mailed to households and businesses in the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone around Indian Point. These books are also posted on the Indian Point web site – www.safesecurevital.com
