Jean Wells

Jean McCrae Wells of Peekskill died peacefully on the morning of Dec. 29 at the age of 79 surrounded by her family.

Jean was born on Feb. 5, 1945, in Peekskill to the late Loretta Wells Austell and Donald McCrae. Jean began her education at Park Street Elementary School and graduated from Peekskill High School. She grew up in Peekskill with her sisters, Dr. Bernice Liddie-Hamilton, Elnora Austell Finkelstein and Lynn Austell Belcher. Jean began a career at IBM, which ultimately transferred her to Texas in 1979. She retired from IBM after 25 years.

Jean loved to sing in the church choir and serve on the usher ministry. She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church. She loved to bake, sew, exercise and spend time with family. Jean will be remembered for her sweet, gentle, loving nature.

She was preceded in death by both her mother and father. Jean leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kimberly Evans, her three sisters, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Jean’s memory at Concord Baptist Church in Dallas on Jan. 10. Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, 6449 University Hills Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75241 is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jean’s memory to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation at www.carcinoid.org, an organization making a difference to help fight neuroendocrine cancer.
