Vote Yes on Prop 1, the State Equal Rights Amendment

This November, vote Yes on Proposal 1, the New York State Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), to protect our rights and reproductive freedoms, including abortion. Voting Yes will guarantee our reproductive rights in the state constitution so that they can’t be taken away in the future.
The ERA will close loopholes to make sure New Yorkers can’t be discriminated against by the government. It will update the state constitution to explicitly protect these groups from discrimination – women, LGBTQIA+ people, those with disabilities, older adults and people from different countries and cultures.
The ERA does not change existing law with respect to parental consent for medical procedures, and it does not change existing law related to playing on sports teams. This is a distraction from what this amendment is about – guaranteeing our personal freedoms and protecting the right to abortion.
