The ongoing migrant crisis is a major issue facing New York State. This is a direct result of the Biden-Harris open borders policy coupled with New York’s insane sanctuary state policies that invite illegal immigration into our communities.

Thankfully, Assemblyman Matt Slater has been a strong voice in Albany, shining a bright light on the state’s continued mismanagement, which is costing taxpayers $4.3 billion. Assemblyman Slater has sponsored comprehensive legislation that would end New York State’s sanctuary policies, allow ICE agents to apprehend illegal immigrants who break our laws and protect hardworking taxpayers by putting an end to the no-bid contracts that New York City has deployed.

In fact, a recent audit by the New York City comptroller concluded 80 percent of millions of our hard-earned tax dollars that has been spent by New York City, should not have been allowed in the first place. This included $1.7 million for unoccupied hotel rooms, wasting 100,000 meals and overpaying $2 million on security subcontractors. All of this could have and should have been avoided with the proper oversight by New York State, which our assemblyman has been demanding.

I am extremely grateful for Assemblyman Slater’s voice and leadership on behalf of Hudson Valley taxpayers. He always stands on the side of common sense.
