Ines Rossi
Obituary Reports the death of an individual, providing an account of the person’s life including their achievements, any controversies in which they were involved, and reminiscences by people who knew them.
Ines Rossi, longtime resident of Pleasantville, passed from this life on May 18, her daughter by her side. She was 88.
Born in Italy to parents Carmine and Rosa, Ines had four sisters and one brother. She studied nursing and worked at the local hospital until meeting the love of her life, the late Vincent. Upon her marriage, she immigrated to the United States.
Ines was a devoted wife and mother, and a proud grandma whose love language was food. She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and serving home-grown produce to her family.
Ines worked hard at all her jobs, including Reader’s Digest and Shop-Rite, from which she retired after 26 years at the age of 79. She was an exemplary employee and earned the love and respect of both co-workers and customers in the bakery. Everywhere Ines went, she’d run into people she knew and with whom she’d forged a connection. She was often teasingly called “mayor.” Children, her own and her grandchildren, as well as others, held a special place in her heart. Her nurturing and selfless love will be forever missed.
Ines is survived by her children, Jean (Massoni) and David; son-in-law Stephen; daughter-in-law Tessa; and grandchildren Vincent, Eddie, Kenny and Vanessa, as well as family in Italy.
Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii in Pleasantville at a later date.
