Yorktown residents are still dealing with the untimely death of Supervisor Tom Diana. Last November, the people elected him putting their trust in his decisions and judgment. Tom chose Ed Lachterman as his deputy supervisor for good reason.
Ed has eight years’ experience working on the Town Board as councilman. In addition, he has devoted many years as a volunteer to organizations benefiting our town, including two terms as Lions Club president, and he hosts the weekly summer concerts at DeVito Memorial Park. He is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
His dedication to Yorktown veterans is exemplary. He volunteers for United for the Troops, an organization that delivers packages to our military overseas. Ed is a guardian on the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, assisting veterans to see the memorials in Washington, D.C. He is also a founding member of the Sons of the American Legion. Once a month, on Sunday, you will see him cooking breakfast, preparing his famous pancakes. He has a special blueberry recipe that he serves to a World War II veteran. My personal favorite is his Irish soda bread, which he bakes for St. Patrick’s Day.
His endorsements include the Westchester Associated Police Association; the Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association; the Building and Construction Trades Council; the Mohegan Professional Firefighters Local 2956; Teamsters Local 456; Laborers Local 60; and Local 235. Ed’s track record has earned him these endorsements proving he has the trust and confidence of the people of Yorktown. He has implemented Yorktown’s motto, “Progress with Preservation.”
There is no substitute for hands-on experience. His opponent does not have the experience that is needed to run our town.
