Today is production day, our weekly Monday effort to complete print newspaper production. And, if past is precedent, we’ll slay the beast once again, and my phone will buzz tomorrow morning with the delivery driver providing an inevitably incorrect estimated time of arrival.

But, just to complicate matters, I figured it would be best to tap out a quick column as the clock ticks.

In fact, there are a couple of upcoming events I wanted to flag for you today anyway, and I have lots of other stuff to share later this week, so it works out well enough.

With that superfluous preamble out of the way, let’s dig into it.

Are you as excited as I am about fall?

I know many of you are mourning the end of summer, but I love this time of year; there’s a unique energy in the upcoming early Sept. air.

Whether you’re in school, have kids in school, or haven’t had anything to do with school in half a century, there’s an undeniable back-to-school mood that grabs most of us as Labor Day nears.

One great aspect of fall in the lower Hudson Valley is all the special events that dot our calendars throughout the final months of the year.

There are two especially fun ones (both of which we help sponsor) to be extra sure to schedule around as your iPhone calendars populate too quickly.

One is the annual Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce SeptemberFest.

The event has become a favorite for people living in and around Mount Kisco in recent years.

Between the carnival, the street fair, and all the great food, it now serves the yearly function of jolting the town into its early autumn senses and out of the lazy, hazy final days of summer. The three-day event is slated for Sept. 16 through Sept. 18 this year. Check it out.

Down in Pleasantville, there’s a whole other party to pencil in.

While October might feel like a while off, it’s not too early to get your plan books out for this year’s Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce Block Party.

Tons of attractions, entertainment, and music to fuel the fun on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. Details here.

All right, gotta go; the print edition newspapers beckon. Look out for them hot off the presses tomorrow. There will be a piece on an interesting new state law, a report on the local disc golf scene, area election coverage, and much more. Our annual football preview section, too — another sign of fall — is also included!

Best,
-Adam
