In these times of high gas prices, food shortages, and the desire to do more activities outdoors, farmers’ markets have more appeal than ever. Here are five standout markets around the county.
Gossett’s Farmers’ Market Open year-round on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Gossett’s says their market is “Where the community meets.” With a variety of vendors that change by the week, the farmers’ market has something for everyone’s tastes. Shoppers can find the current vendor list on the website. A recent week included Cooperstown Cheese Company, South Salem Winery, Blessed Brew Kombucha, and several local farms.
Special features: Gossett’s Nursery has everything for holiday decorating, whether it is table settings at an outdoor summer event or wreaths for Christmas. Also, the Community Center of Northern Westchester is a regular participant. They collect non-perishable items to be distributed at their Food Pantry each month.
Can’t miss: When Sharamel Sweets from Pawling is part of the Market, be sure to grab yourself a sweet treat and bring more home to savor later. The Friends of Muscoot Farm Farmers’ Market Open Sundays from May 9 to Nov. 21, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
This market has a variety of weekly local vendors and keeps things interesting by including others bi-weekly and monthly. You can always be sure to find Irvington Delight, Meredith’s Country Bread, Picklelicious, The Cheese Guy, Scotty’s Country Kitchen, Bongo, Capacci Pasta, and several local farms among the regulars.
Special features: Hummingbird Ranch, located in the Rhinebeck area, brings its specialties to the Muscoot Farmers Market each week. You can check out their honey and sweet cotton candy as well as their maple syrup, jellies, and more.

Pleasantville Farmers’ Market Open outdoors all year on Saturdays from April 2 to Nov. 19, 8:30 am to 1:00 pm
Considered the largest year-round market in Westchester, Pleasantville Farmers’ Market is not just a great place to shop, it’s a bona fide experience. Live music, special events, and more make this a way to kick off any weekend. The current vendor list can be found on their website. You can find everything from breads and baked goods to fresh seafood, meats, and prepared foods.
Special features: A nutritionist and chef demos can often be part of the events of the day. Live music also adds to the inviting ambiance and festive vibe.

The Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow Farmers’ Market give the highest priority to vendors with organic and sustainable practices. The vendors come from within 100 miles of the 10591 zip code or within New York State. Enjoy live music, activities, chef demos, and more.
