Butcher, Barger to Co-Captain Putnam Examiner; Vitelli to Lead White Plains
Examiner Media has hired Kerry Barger to serve as assistant editor of The Putnam Examiner as Andrew Vitelli, editor of the company’s Putnam edition since 2009, takes the reins of The White Plains Examiner. Faith Ann Butcher, editor-in-chief of The Northern Westchester Examiner, will be taking over for Vitelli as the lead Putnam editor on an interim basis.
“Andrew has done an incredible job with The Putnam Examiner and we are thankful that he has given us a great foundation on which to grow,” Butcher said. “I am looking forward to working with Kerry. She is already becoming a vital member of the Examiner Media team and she will certainly be an asset to the Putnam community.”
Barger is an Ithaca College graduate and multi-skilled journalist, with experience in news and sports writing, along with photography.
“I’m looking forward to becoming part of a dynamic group and to immerse myself in all things Putnam,” said Barger, a Carmel High School graduate and Putnam resident.
Vitelli begins his work this week on the production of The White Plains Examiner, which hits the streets on Aug. 23.
“While I will certainly miss Putnam, I am excited about the new challenges that I will face in White Plains,” Vitelli said. “I know the Kerry and Faith will do an excellent job, and I look forward to seeing the paper continue to grow and succeed.”
Examiner Media also publishes Westchester’s The Examiner and TheExaminerNews.com.
In addition to the company’s Twitter feed – @examinerstone – several of Examiner Media’s editorial contributors can also be followed on the social networking and microblogging service. Butcher’s Tweets can be monitored by following @faithannbutcher while Vitelli’s posts can be tracked on his @agvitelli feed. Barger’s new Examiner Twitter handle is @kerrybarger.
