1. Music in the Streets Series at Ridge Hill (6/3)

Live music in the summer begins at the Fountain at Ridge Hill in Yonkers starting on June 3 and continues every Friday through July 29. Xiomara Laugart with the Axel Tosca Trio kick off the summer concerts at 7 p.m. Doug Panero Presents in conjunction with Ridge Hill are presenting these outdoor concerts. Food and drinks are available at venues around the fountain. The concerts are free all summer long.

2. White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival (6/5)

The White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival has been filling downtown White Plains with art for more than 50 years. All types of art including paintings, photography, ceramics, glasswork, jewelry, and textiles will be displayed. Artists range from scholarship winners to emerging artists to the more well-known artisans that make this festival a go-to year after year. Food vendors, workshops, and vendors round out the day which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free to the public. The event runs on June 4 and 5.

3. Party on the Pier at Playland (6/8)

Westchester Magazine’s Wine & Food Festival returns to the beach. Guests will enjoy a fun-filled evening on the Playland boardwalk overlooking the beautiful Long Island Sound while enjoying samples of summer favorites from local restaurants and food trucks plus beer, wine, cocktails, and music. The highlight of the night will be the fourth Annual Bartender Shake-Off, featuring Westchester’s top bartenders competing for Best Bartender honors. Tickets are $60; event runs 6 – 9 p.m.

  • Ride the Wave (Rye): From Bach to Rock, children ages 5-12 will learn about sound and sound waves in this one-hour workshop beginning at 11 a.m. By the end of the session, children will have created their own instrument and see wave motion. Free for members and $5 for non-members.

  • Therapy Horse Program at Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship (Mount Kisco): Children interact with a Shetland Pony and will do other fun activities with Endeavor, a nonprofit organization that provides and promotes the therapeutic benefits of equine-assisted activities to individuals with special needs and their families. Registration is required for this free activity. According to Endeavor, “The therapeutic effect of animals has been acknowledged for some time as a tool in the battle against poor mental health and addressing behavioral difficulties. Research has revealed that people engaging will often leave with an observable sense of increased mental well-being.”
