🎵 PRELUDE: Weather Report Suite: Prelude & Let It Go
The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. The band is known for its eclectic style, which fused elements of rock, folk, country, jazz, bluegrass, blues, gospel, and psychedelic rock for live performances of lengthy instrumental jams.
Grateful Dead’s “Weather Report” seems like a good tune to meditate on this time of year since much of our daily activities rely on it. The song was played live only six times in the Dead’s journey, with all of the performances taking place throughout September 1973.
The Grateful Dead are no more, but there are no shortages of “Dead” cover bands and jam bands. A band called TERRAPIN is one of the local Deadheads’ favorites. Consisting of seasoned musicians who have written and performed their entire lives. Terrapin offers an authentic mix of original and cover tunes (The Grateful Dead) and often sell-out shows all over the Northeast. They describe their music as “a vibe that will appeal to the masses.” Their band includes Paul Dunay, Geoff Schneider, Milo Barer, Ric Lubell, Aaron Haggle, Doug Knight, and JP Geoghegan.
