Eyes on Westchester, a new half-hour public affairs show on WDFH, features Examiner Media’s Faith Ann Butcher, editor-in-chief of The Northern Westchester Examiner, with the program hosted by Bedford resident Melinda Battle.

The program is aired each week on Wednesday mornings and Friday evenings. It debuted in March and the station is now bolstering efforts to promote the program.

Topics covered since the program first aired have included issues surrounding Indian Point, the debate over the Chappaqua Crossing development, debates over property taxes, school budgets, group homes and changes in recycling laws.

Butcher, a Mahopac resident, is also a features editor for Eventful Magazine and is a frequent guest on several local cable television shows. In addition, her writing and photos have been showcased in The Westchester County Business Journal among other publications in the region.

Battle is a 30-year resident of Westchester County with a background in public relations, administration, photography and graphic design. She began volunteering at WDFH last year.

The Northern Westchester Examiner is one of three print newspapers published by Examiner Media. The company also publishes The Examiner and The Putnam Examiner along with this website, www.theexaminernews.com. The newspapers and website cover the issues and happenings of central and northern Westchester and Putnam County.

Examiner Media launched The Yorktown Examiner in late 2009 but earlier this year renamed the paper The Northern Westchester Examiner to better reflect its expanded coverage area. The paper now covers Yorktown, Somers, Cortlandt, Croton, Buchanan, Ossining, and Peekskill.

WDFH is the lower Hudson Valley’s only community public radio station. The station’s parent organization is Hudson Valley Community Radio, Inc., a local nonprofit organization. WDFH is an affiliate of the Pacifica Radio Network and is the lower Hudson Valley’s on-air source for Democracy Now! and Free Speech Radio News. The station can be heard at 90.3 FM in central and northern Westchester and eastern Rockland and online at wdfh.org. A separate audio stream is optimized for iPhones and other mobile devices.

Tax-deductible contributions can be sent to WDFH at 21 Brookside Lane, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. 10522.  Contributions can also be made online through the station’s website.

WDFH is seeking volunteers to create programming and work behind the scenes.  Anyone interested in joining the staff can visit wdfh.org and click on the “volunteer” link.
