Local Veterinarians Join Pet Food Pantry for Holiday Pet Food Drive
Six area veterinary offices are teaming up with the Hudson Valley Pet Food Pantry for a holiday pet food drive to help 300 economically challenged families feed their pets this holiday season.
The all-volunteer Hudson Valley Pet Food Pantry provides free pet food to those who otherwise would be forced to abandon their pets or surrender them to a shelter because of financial hardship due to unemployment, illness, disability, or other difficulty. Each month, the pantry provides food for more than 700 pets in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Dutchess Counties. Clients must meet the pantry’s guidelines to qualify for assistance.
People wishing to contribute food can put it in special bins located at the veterinary offices during regular business hours between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. The HVPFP needs both wet and dry dog and cat food, in unopened containers.
The veterinary offices working with the HVPFP include: Bond Animal Hospital, 250 Central Avenue, White Plains; Ardsley Veterinary Associates, 722 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley; Animal Hospital of White Plains, 36 Pleasant Avenue, White Plains; Best Friends, 114 S. Kensico Avenue, White Plains; Tuckahoe Animal Hospital, 20 Depot Square, Tuckahoe; and, Banfield Animal Hospital located in the Pet Smart store at 2458 Central Avenue in Yonkers.
