Patterson Man Charged in Debit Card Theft

A 23-year-old Patterson man was nabbed for fourth degree larceny on Sept. 21 after an investigation revealed he allegedly was fraudulently obtaining and unlawfully using a debit card.

Edward J. Hussey was arrested at his old Route 22 home at about 11 a.m. and was arraigned in Patterson Town Count. He was remanded to Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of a $20,000 cash bail or $50,000 secured bond.

In July, a Patterson resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report that his identity has been stolen and used in getting an unauthorized debit card. The debit card had been used in Patterson to withdraw cash from an ATM machine. As a result, Hussey was arrested and charged with identity theft in the third degree and then faced the new grand larceny charge in the Town of Southeast where it is alleged he obtained the card under false pretenses.

Additionally, the Town of Patterson Court had issued a bench warrant for Hussey’s arrest after he didn’t show for a court appearance on the original identity theft charge.
