Carmel High School Announces AP Scholars
Carmel High School principal Kevin Carroll is pleased to announce that 71students have been named as Advance Placement Scholars by the College Board. This honor is in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) Exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
Students took AP Exams in May 2013 after completing challenging college-level course at the high school. The College Board recognized several levels of achievement based on the number of yearlong courses and exams. Students earned honors as AP Scholar (those who completed 3 or more exams with scores of 3 or higher on a 5-point scale), AP Scholar with Honor (those who earned an average of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on 4 or more of these exams), AP Scholar with Distinction (those who earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on 5 or more of these exams) and National AP Scholar (those who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Scholars: 40 CHS students achieved this level. The average score for CHS students was 3.27.
