Yorktown Grange Fair Set for Four Days of Planting Memories
Dubbed as Westchester County’s only true country fair, the 89th annual Yorktown Grange Fair has a full schedule of family fun and entertainment planned from Thursday, September 5 to Sunday, September 8 on the Moseman Avenue fair grounds, just past St. Patrick’s Church.
The theme of this year’s event is “Planting Memories” since besides carnival games, rides, food, shows and musical acts, the Grange Fair celebrates Yorktown’s agricultural heritage with livestock, produce, flowers and baking exhibits and competitions.
Some returning attractions include the watermelon and pie eating contests, hay rides, horsemanship competitions and the antique tractor parade, which will be held Saturday at noon starting at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center.
Also on tap is live music from The Sundown Band, Chain of Fools, Jessica Lynn, The Monarch, Mighty Few Band, Unfunded Mandate and Annie and the Natural Wonder Band, a karaoke sing off on September 5 at 5 p.m., and eye opening acts in Chris Clark’s Bicycle Stunt Show and The Great Charlini Magic Show.
The Yorktown Grange Fair is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization. All fees and other fair revenues are used to fund next year’s fair and support local charities and service organizations. The hours of operation are 5 to 10 p.m. September 5, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. September 6 and 7, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. September 8. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for seniors and $4 for children under 12. Children under two are free. Admission on September 5 is $2 for all ages. There are wristband specials for rides each day. No credit cards are accepted, but an ATM is located on site.
