New Operators of Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill Welcomed
City officials, leaders and residents officially welcomed the new operators of the renamed Paramount HudsonValley theater Wednesday afternoon during a lease signing/ribbon cutting ceremony outside the historic marquee.
“It’s wonderful to see how excited everyone is,” Mayor Mary Foster said. “This is a big day for Peekskill and WestchesterCounty.”
Peekskill and Red House Entertainment reached an agreement on a 17-year lease, which includes a 10-year renewal option, that also guarantees the city five percent of adjusted gross income of ticket sales. According to Red House’s projections, Peekskill could receive approximately $100,000 during each of the first two years.
“It’s a really exciting day. I grew up in Peekskill so I’m happy to give back,” said Kurt Heitmann, CEO of Red House. “We knew exactly how we wanted to run this theater. The end result is today. We’re just beginning. The next six months we have a lot of work to do.”
Red House has already booked several events at the Paramount, starting May 26 with The John Whelan Band. Daisy Joplin and the Westchester Youth Symphony will perform June 9, Kiddie Palooza will take the stage July 13 and a Jazz and Blues Festival will be held July 27.
