Mt. Kisco Coach Diner Renovation Plan Receives Approval
In a decision that was three years in the making, the Mount Kisco Coach Diner had its renovation and expansion plan approved Tuesday night.
The unanimous Jan. 8 vote by the Mount Planning Board of the diner’s renovation and expansion plan calls for the creation of additions totaling 1,215 square feet to the existing building.
The plan also includes 12 new parking spaces behind the restaurant with another three spaces being used on another property across the street. That will give the diner access to 64 parking spaces.
Frank Georgiou and his family, who own the diner located at 252 Main St., will tear down the vacant building that formerly housed Paul’s Power Mower business to free up space for the additional on-site parking. Georgiou told the planning board last week he would have that building torn down “as soon as possible.”
Renovation work on the diner is slated to being this spring, he said.
At the request of the planning board, architect Russ Davidson and other diner representatives agreed to provide additional screening of the property by extending the stone wall that’s in the rear of the parking lot and constructing a four-foot high solid wood fence on top of the wall.
Planning Board Chairman Joseph Cosentino said last week a snow plow would damage a fence unless it is made of solid wood.
While the seating capacity of the diner is not expected to increase there will be a larger vestibule and more space in the dining room.
