PHOTOS: Swearing In of State and County Officials in Putnam
Bipartisanship and unity were the promises made by the elected officials during the swearing-in ceremony for state and county officials in Putnam on New Year’s Eve.
“Putting people before politics,” Legislator Barbara Scuccimarra (R-District 1) said after being the first person of the day to take the oath of office. The other officials fell in line with similar messages.
State Senator-elect Terry Gipson (D-District 41) and Congressman-elect Sean Patrick Maloney (D-District 18) each made a few brief comments, but each opted to be sworn in at other ceremonies. Gipson will be taking the oath in Poughkeepsie, while Maloney will be sworn in down in Washington D.C.
State Senator Greg Ball (R- District 40) and Assembly members Sandy Galef (D-District 94) and Steve Katz (R-District 95) were each sworn in for their new terms.
In addition to Scuccimarra, legislators Ginny Nacerino (R-District 4) and Roger Gross (R-District 6) took the oath. Legislator-elect Joseph Castellano (R-District 7) was unable to attend the ceremony.
Putnam County coroners Hari P. Chakravorty, M.D., and Michael Nesheiwat, M.D., were also sworn in.
