A 4-H volunteer runs with a dog on an obstacle course used for obedience training at the Paws for the Cause pet adopt-a-thon event held at the Yorktown Grange Fairgrounds.
The event included dozens of dogs, both puppies and older, as well as vendors giving free samples of dog food and selling pet-related merchandise.
Every dog at the event was available for adoption and local shelter owner Lisa Birdsall said some of the pets available were saved from euthanization with as little as 12 hours to spare. She spotlighted several dogs that were mother-and-child or brother-and-sister bundles.
