Woman’s Death Believed to be Self-Inflicted
A woman plunged to her death Sunday evening from her apartment at 41 Barker Avenue in White Plains. Though the investigation is ongoing, police believe the woman, in her mid-50s, jumped.
“The cause of death is certainly a fall from the building, and we feel it was self-inflicted,” White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said. “We believe that she jumped from the building.”
Police received a series of 9-1-1 calls at around 6:15 p.m. Sunday and found the woman, believe to be around 56 years old, on the ground outside the apartment. She was taken to the emergency room at White Plains Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m.
Chong said police wouldn’t know the cause of death for sure until they receive the medical examiner’s report. They are not releasing the name of the woman, but said she was a resident of 41 Barker Avenue.
